Content Moderation Policy
Last updated: January 2026
1. Editorial Review Process
All content on Threats.watch undergoes editorial review before publication. Our process includes:
- Source Verification
All claims must be supported by verifiable sources such as court documents, credible news coverage, government records, or academic publications.
- Human Review
While we use AI-assisted research tools, all final publication decisions are made by human editors who evaluate accuracy, relevance, and public interest.
- Tier Classification
Entities are classified into five threat tiers based on documented evidence. Higher tiers (1-3) require stronger evidentiary standards.
2. Content Standards
We apply the following standards to all content:
- Documented actions and statements by public figures
- Information from credible, verifiable sources
- Claims relevant to threats against democratic institutions
- Connections between entities supported by evidence
- Unverified allegations or rumors
- Private information about non-public figures
- Content based solely on social media posts without corroboration
- Personal opinions presented as facts
3. User-Submitted Content
We accept submissions from the public through our submission form. All submissions are:
- Reviewed by Editorial Staff
Submissions are not published automatically. Each submission is evaluated by our editorial team.
- Verified Against Sources
We verify all claims against the sources provided and may conduct additional research.
- Subject to Rejection
We reserve the right to reject any submission that does not meet our editorial standards.
4. Dispute Resolution
We maintain a formal process for disputing content through our dispute form. Disputes may be filed for:
- Factual errors in published content
- Missing context that changes the meaning of a claim
- Source issues (broken links, misattributed sources)
- Removal requests with compelling justification
All disputes are reviewed within 5-7 business days. We will respond to the submitter (if contact information is provided) and update content as appropriate.
5. Moderation Decision Records
We maintain records of all content moderation decisions, including:
- Publication decisions (what content was published and when)
- Content edits (what was changed and why)
- Removal decisions (what was removed and the justification)
- Dispute resolutions (how disputes were handled)
These records are retained for legal compliance and transparency purposes. They may be disclosed in response to valid legal process.
6. Third-Party Content and Links
Our content includes links to third-party sources. We:
- Do not control third-party content
- Provide links for source verification only
- May use archive links when original sources become unavailable
- Are not responsible for changes to linked content
